LEVEL 3: MAKING A LYRIC VIDEO

2.  Step up to the mic and spit

To Complete this Challenge Level:

Import your video or images into a movie making program, choose a background, add your vocals and written text, and create an intro and outro for your lyric video.

1. Set the Stage

Choose your background

Import video or image files of your meaningful place

or select a template from your software program

Add your audio

Record your spoken word poem live live or add pre-recorded audio

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

You will need some Movie Making program or app. 

If you don't have access to iMovie, go to www.blackmagicdesign.com 

and download DaVinci Resolve16.

NEXT

  To import your video or pictures  

If you're using iMovie                      If you're using DaVinci Resolve

  1. Open your video editing program and start a new project.

  2. Look for "Import File" or "Import Media" in your file menu.

  3. Select the files you want to add to your project.

  To add your audio 

  1. First, you will have to decide if you want to record yourself performing your piece live or if you want to upload a pre-recorded piece.

  • If you want to record it live

  • If you would rather pre-record​​

2.  Find a quiet place to record yourself on your

     computer or mobile device.​

3. Speak Your Piece 

4.  Import your audio into your project.

5.  Adjust the timing of the video and audio so they fit together

     how you want.

3.  Lay down your lyrics

Add text to your video

Use "Titles" in your movie making program to add your text.  You can caption your entire poem or highlight certain words that you want to stand out.

  To add your lyrics 

  1. Click on the "Titles" Tab in your movie making program.

  2. Choose a theme or style for your text.

  3. Listen to your poem line by line and add text where you want it to go.
